Six Sentence Sunday #29

During Sandy and Sophie’s wedding ceremony, Neal was reminded of his first love, Laurie, who died a few years earlier. He reflects: If he’d have asked anybody to marry him, it would’ve been her, but he’d never even told her that he loved her.

His current girlfriend, April (who is trying to get over her unrequited feelings for Sandy) is beside him at the ceremony.

Neal tried to swallow but couldn’t.
“Hey,” April whispered into his ear. “You look upset. Do you need a hug?”
He turned toward her sad but beautiful face, and wrapped his arms around her. “I’m so glad you’re here,” he whispered back.

Thanks for coming by here today. I’ve got hot cocoa set out, and here's a cinnamon roll fresh from the oven. J

On this Veterans Day, I have to offer a huge Thank You to all our servicepeople current and former. This country owes you a debt we can never repay but I hope my gratitude helps a little.

  3. This makes me wonder, do their feelings for others make their love for each other stronger when it finally comes out into the open, or does it drive them apart? Good six!

    1. Well ED, I'll put it this way: what affects Neal and April's relationship is not their feelings for Sophie or Sandy ;)

And it's so nice to see you!

  4. I'm not entirely sure which way you're taking your novel, it seems like it could go a couple of different ways at this point. Whichever way you choose, I commend you're ability to create such a realistic relationship and emotional situation for this group. You're doing marvelous things.
